The Sacred Art of Being Held: Relearning Safety, Trust, and Feminine Surrender

The Sacred Art of Being Held: Relearning Safety, Trust, and Feminine Surrender

Before you learn how to lead, build, or love deeply, you must first remember what it feels like to be safely held.

Right now, take a breath.

Can you feel the support beneath you?

The solid, grounded presence of the Earth under your feet or the chair that’s quietly holding you as you read this? The gentle cradle of your bed that receives your tired spine without asking anything in return. That is support.

That is life saying: “You are held."
But when was the last time you truly felt that? Not the intellectual understanding of it but the actual, visceral sensation that you don’t have to hold it all together anymore.

Because here’s the truth: Many of us confuse giving with being held.

You think, “If I just give more… love more… help more… maybe I’ll finally feel the safety I’ve been craving.” But no amount of giving can substitute the soul’s longing to receive. And your body knows it. It can feel the difference between a genuine embrace and an empty hug, between a hand that holds with intention, and one that only pretends to.

I did not grow up with my biological mother.

Yes, I was held as a baby because every infant must be but the kind of holding that encodes safety into your nervous system… that’s different. The mother’s touch that whispers, “You’re safe to exist, to cry, to rest.” Instead, I learned to hold myself early. I was raised by my father, a man of great discipline, strength, and fierce protection. From him, I inherited my willpower, my structure, my unshakable focus.

But the softness of surrender? The art of receiving without guilt? That became my lifelong quest. I could create, perform, build yet part of me ached for the feeling of being fully held.

My heart knew it, but my nervous system hadn’t yet learned the language of safety.

Your life force is always dancing between your masculine and feminine energies. The masculine moves through action, direction, creation, and protection. The feminine receives, surrenders, and trusts the flow of life.

But what happens when your giving energy is overdeveloped and your receiving energy feels foreign?

You’ll find yourself exhausted, anxious, and never quite satisfied.

You’ll received love but struggle to let it land.

You’ll manifest opportunities but can’t seem to let yourself have them fully.

Receiving, real receiving requires safety. And safety begins with awareness. To rewire your relationship with support, you must first remember what it feels like to be held.

So, take another breath.

Let your body soften into the support beneath you. Let the ground remind you, you’ve been held all along. And if your body trembles when you try to relax, that’s okay. It’s just your system learning what safety feels like again.

This is the work I do with my private clients: we trace the roots, bring light to what’s been numbed, and create a sanctuary where your nervous system can finally exhale. Where you remember the sacred balance between power and softness.

Because the truth is, you can’t lead others into safety if you’ve never learned to feel safe within yourself.

You are not too much for life to hold. You were never meant to carry it all alone. And no matter how many times you’ve had to be strong, the feminine within you is still waiting to be witnessed, to be received, to be held, to be home.

If your body is whispering “I’m ready to feel safe again,” then this is your invitation to enter the work.
